Ayurveda : Ayu-r-veda: Ayu means age or longevity of life and Veda, derived from vid (a Sanskrit term) means knowledge. So Ayurveda means “the complete knowledge for long life”.
Ayurvedic treatment came into action during the age of Vedic civilization (in India) and serving to the mankind till date. Ayurveda is based on the physics of the five elements that compose the universe and seven primary constituent elements of the body. Ayurveda also stresses a balance of three elemental energies or humors: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each one of these energies describes a single characteristic of human body. Someone who can understand Vata, Pitta and Kapha can have a better idea regarding the Principals of Ayurveda. These Doshas are the underlying principles that govern the nature, transformation and structure of the physical universe. Every object in the natural world (including human body) is composed of the elements of vata, pitta and kapha and it is the relative proportion of each Dosha that determines its uniqueness and differentiates it from another objects.
The Ayurvedic theory states that these three substances or Dosas are important for health. Any kind of imbalance in these three Dosas will lead your body to unhealthy condition or diseases. However we can maintain a perfect balance of these Dosas by following the guidelines of Ayurveda. That are :
• Maintaining a proper daily routine.
• Eating healthy foods.
• Doing exercise regularly.
• Practicing yoga and meditation.
In today’s busy world we are facing much more of difficulties to maintain an adequate daily routine. No time for yoga practice and even most of us don’t know how to meditate. For small to small diseases we are prompted to take medicines resulting in side effects and chronic diseases. But thanks to Ayurveda, which brought us the care of Mother Nature in the form of herbal remedies. It has been proven that, Ayurvedic medicines do not have side effects. And in most of the cases it is cost effective. There are several herbs and herbal extract medicines available which can cure chronic diseases in a simple way. We will have a look on the treatment of diseases and on the other aspects of Ayurveda in coming posts.
You can post a comment or send an email to let us know how we are doing.
